Simply Glowing, originally known as Holly Pines Soy Scents, got its start on a fourth generation family farm in eastern Indiana. Looking for supplemental income to help pay for college for their four perfect children, our parents - Steve and Terry Fennig - decided to open a choose-and-cut Christmas Tree operation called 'Holly Pines". Along with selling the finest Christmas Trees money can buy, we also established a “Holly Shop” in which Terry sold custom-designed Christmas arrangements along with hand-painted ornaments and figurines... and a lamentable first couple years when far too much of our inventory featured a cow motif. Because we were first and foremost a corn, wheat, and soybean farm, a logical addition to the “Holly Shop” collection was soybean wax candles. We searched far and wide for the best candle to include in our store and we were very disappointed with what we found. The smells were weak, the colors bland, and designs were frankly unimpressive. So, my parents being the consummate entrepreneurs that they are, decided to make their own candle. Steve perfected the formula and Terry perfected the design. Hundreds of hours of research, thousands of trials and errors, and feedback from countless individuals make us certain that we have the best soy candle on the market.

Originally the candles were only intended for the “Holly Shop,” but they were flying off the shelves faster than we could pour them. So we decided to go national. And now you can buy directly from the manufacturer the same candle that has been available for the past 6 years in hundreds of stores in over 35 states across the country. When it came time to update the image and increase the company's national retail presence, Steve and Terry's favorite son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Kristen, took up the banner.
